There's this very old tree in my neighbourhood.
I think it's about atleast 50 years old. Well, that's what I heard.
Some of my neighbours atually think that its haunted.
They said, once a very long time ago, an old lady and her grandchild disappeared after they walked past that tree.
For 3 years, they weren't seen. Everyone thought they died or got killed.
So they had a council meeting.
They all decided to cut down that tree because they're all soo superstitious.
and
They also had proof that the old lady and her grandchild disappeared.
The moment they mention these two peoples' names, they suddenly walked into the room.
The old lady and her grandchild convinced the residents not to cut down that tree as it brings good luck.
They said they had been lost and almost died if it wasn't for that tree.
It was the only thing that shone in the darkness.
At first, the residents didn't buy the story, but seeing that the two of them were alive, they had no choice but to believe.
So until, now, that tree remains.
First of all, I think that no such thing is unbelievable.
Maybe it is true.
after all, Pasir Ris is a very old place.
But to think that the old lady said, "It was the only thing that shone in the darkness", really bothers me.
I mean, there are a few possibilities.
One, she and her grandchild could have been lying. Maybe they purposely hid themselves from the world because the planted that tree.
or because the had lots of lovely memories of the tree and is only tring to protect that particuler tree.
Two, they could have been a ghost of some sort, which lives under or on that tree thus they do not want it harmed.
Three, they really got lost and the tree had led them home...
I still fail to come of with a conclusion for this tale.
I guess, some tales are better off without an ending...
You might not know what will happen if you find out the truth,
It may be either good or bad..
Either way,
I rather leave it the way it is.
